Counselling

At It’s Your Choice, counselling is free and confidential for young people of the New Forest area. Sessions are run on a 1 to 1 basis for
approximately 6-8 weeks at a time, once a week for approximately an hour at a time.

Counsellors are trained to listen to young people about their problems and concerns, helping them to reflect on what they (the young person) feels is important and, if necessary, suggesting ways to cope with difficult feelings or situations. It’s like having a private conversation without anyone judging you, telling you what to think, do or say.

A young person can have counselling about a whole range of issues including; bullying, stress, depression, fears or phobia’s, relationships, anxiety, eating disorders, self harm, drug or alcohol misuse, loneliness, low self esteem, bereavement or loss and sexuality.

Counselling may take place at one of our drop in centres, youth club, community centre, schools, colleges, Doctors surgery’s or Town Hall’s. We are unable to provide counselling in peoples homes.
