Talking in Confidence

It’s Your Choice operates a strict confidentiality policy.

  • The people who work here will try to keep all information you share with us confidential.
  • However, there are some exceptions to this where we will need to take action.
  • By action we mean talking to another agency such as Social Services, Police etc.
  • If you are under 18yrs old and disclose that you have been emotionally, physically or sexually abused and inaction would place you back into the same situation
  • If other young people (under18 yr.) are thought to be at risk of abuse e.g. where an abuser is known to be a carer of other young people ( e.g. siblings)
  • If you are in need of medical treatment due to self harm, a suicide attempt or physical harm from another.
  • If we are told that another person is known to be at risk of serious harm in any other way.
  • If acts of a sexual and or violent nature have been committed or where there are serious grounds for believing that threats will be acted upon.
  • If someone from It’s Your Choice is summoned to appear in court and has to give evidence.
