- Job Title:
- It's Your Voice Project Worker
After leaving college I started working at ‘Rose Road’, a disabled children’s charity. Originally intended as a gap year job, I was still there 9 years later! Most of my time was spent supporting parents/carers of disabled children across Hampshire through helplines, websites, a newsletter and social media. I loved being able to offer support and a listening ear, and empowering parents to influence services for their children.
After Rose Road, I spent a year at No Limits- first providing HR support and secondly offering business support for their new Social Enterprise No Limits Trading.
I started at IYC in October 2018 and am very excited to see what the future holds here!
What do you do at IYC?
I am the Project Worker for It’s Your Voice. It’s a new service funded by the Blagrave Trust to give young people the opportunity to influence services in the New Forest. This is something I am very passionate about- I firmly believe that the best people to inform a service are those who do or may access it.
What attracted you to working at IYC?
I was attracted by the opportunity to work closely with young people and to give them the platform and confidence to share their opinions and experiences.
What do you do outside of work?
I have a daughter, which means outside of work I can usually be found in a park/ballpit etc haha! We love to be outside and visit lots of new places- especially the beach.
