A key part of our work is using our Food Bank to be able to offer young people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, basic food items and toiletries.

We also use our Food Bank to provide a hot meal to young people who we work with long term, who are often unable to provide regular, warm meals for themselves. When our young people come to us they are given a hot meal and the opportunity to wash and dry clothing.

Unfortunately, this service is under extreme demand, and we urgently need items to restock.

Our shopping list includes:

  • UHT (longlife) Milk
  • Tinned Meat/Fish
  • Instant/Pot Noodles
  • Bread
  • Butter/spread
  • Cheese
  • Ham/other sandwich fillings
  • Mayonnaise/ketchup/salad cream
  • Cereals/Cereal bars
  • Biscuits
  • Crisps
  • Fruit Juice/Fruit Squash
  • Tinned Fruit
  • Tea/Coffee
  • Washing power/tablets
  • Toiletries (E.g. toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, shower gel etc.)
  • Disposable cutlery, food containers, and cups (with lids) to enable a young person to take food away with them when homeless

Unfortunately we have limited cooking facilities, just a microwave/convection oven, kettle, toaster, George Foreman style grill, and fridge freezer. However, items which can be frozen (ready meals, fish fingers etc.) and then cooked using this equipment are also very welcome.

Please note – we are currently unable to accept donations of clothes due to lack of storage space.

Every donation you make, whether it be one item or 10, makes a real difference to the young people we help and could be the difference between them getting a healthy meal and them going hungry.

If you would like to make a donation to our Food Bank please email info@iyc.org.uk or we welcome donations delivered to our door during office opening hours.
