If you, your workplace, or community organisation has just done something funny for money in aid of Comic Relief you’ll know how much fun fundraising can be.
But what else can you do to raise money? If you’re struggling to think of interesting ways to fundraise for your favourite charity we’ve got some great ideas.
Take a look below for our top fundraising ideas:
Dress down day at work – whether this means simply coming into work in your casual clothes or picking a fancy dress theme dress down days can be great fun. With a little bit of advertising, and asking colleagues to donate just £1 each, you’d be surprised how much money you can raise.
Crazy hair day – you could combine this with dress down day for some startling results! Again, ask people to donate £1 or be sponsored for the craziest hair styles.
Cycling for charity – pick the distance and the route – the best routes often involve famous landmarks or a local pub! If the weather isn’t looking promising you could always use exercise bikes and have people raise sponsorship for every mile they cycle.
Hold a “promises auction” – auctions of services often raise more money than those with material prizes so get your thinking caps on for services you could offer. For example, doing someone’s ironing, mowing their lawn, cooking a meal, or decorating a room.
Workplace car wash – this is a great way to get people involved, no matter how many people you have in your organisation. We recommend asking people to donate what they think the car wash is worth rather than charging a set price.
A baked bean bath – this is a classic fundraising activity and is sure to raise a lot of money. If you don’t fancy baked beans try other food stuffs such as porridge, jelly, or rice pudding.
Sponsored silence – obviously this won’t work if you answer the phone for a living but if your job allows it then a sponsored day of silence can be a good way of raising money. It’s harder than you think!
“Come dine with me” – get colleagues, friends, and family involved to host a series of dinner parties. Ask people to donate what they think the meal was worth. An extra twist could be to try and produce a three course meal for as little money as possible.
Prom dress football/rugby – let’s face it, dresses and sports don’t really mix so organising a charity football or rugby match with players wearing dresses is sure to be interesting. Ask each player to make a donation and have a collection bucket on the side lines for spectators.
