Top Fundraising Tips from It’s Your Choice – part two

How to promote your fundraising event

So last week we gave you some great fundraising ideas and we hope you found at least one or two that would work for you, your workplace, or community organisation.

But how do you promote your event? We’ve got some idea to help your raise as much money as possible for your favourite charity.

PrintGet in touch with your chosen charity – the charity might have some fundraising tips of their own and be able to help you promote your event via their website, social media, and newsletters.

Get social – we all know that social media (Twitter, Facebook etc.) is a great way of spreading the word about something. Perhaps create a specific page for your fundraising event and link it to your JustGiving account so people can donate easily.

Signs, flyers, and posters – visual advertising catches people’s eyes and is a good way of generating interest in the local area. Ask shops, pubs, local businesses to display them for you – they might even offer to sponsor your event as well!

Involve the local press – contact local newspapers, radio stations, and community newsletters to create a publicity buzz about your fundraising activities. Communicate clearly and simply what you’re doing, which charity you’re supporting, and why people should get involved in the cause.

Tell everyone – friends, family, colleagues… tell everyone what you’re doing as you’d be surprise who wants to get involved and donate to a good cause.

Use multiple promotion methods – the more you promote your event, the more people will support it so don’t just stick to using one promotional tool. Being creative, diverse, and organised – it’s the key to fundraising success!
