It’s Your Choice has launched a late night drop-in session for young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, which started on Friday 8th January 2016.
The drop-in session will be open from 6 to 9:30pm at the charity’s Totton premises and young people will be able to have a free hot meal and get information, advice, and guidance about their housing issues.
It’s Your Choice youth worker, Katherine Herbert says,
“Our new late night drop-in will provide much needed warmth and sustenance at a time when few other services are available. With the rise in sofa surfing and rough sleeping it is important that we are able to do all we can do ease the increasing toll homelessness takes on their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
For the young people accessing this, and our other services, the weekend can seem like a very long time without support and access to food or shelter, opening up until late on Friday will help to lessen the impact of this immensely.”
It’s Your Choice always welcomes interest in their work from local people and was pleased that so many locals supported their work with young people that are homeless over the festive period.
If you would like to make a small donation of ingredients for meals, foods that can be cooked in a microwave or slow cooker would be the most helpful, as It’s Your Choice has limited cooking facilities.
